Group Therapy – ABGT050 Live Sets from Alexandra Palace in London | Jody Wisternoff, Guy J, Boom Jinx, Andrew Bayer, Above & Beyond, Arty

Just in case you missed last night’s festivities in London or the stream online, Above & Beyond hosted, in style, the celebration of their 50th Group Therapy episode. Taking place at London’s famed Alexandra Palace – Tony, Paavo and Jono packed the 10,000 capacity venue making history and delivering one of the best series of sets this year. Joining the stage alongside Above & Beyond were Jody Wisternoff, Guy J, Boom Jinx, Andrew Bayer and party-man Arty. True to each producer’s style and sound, each set was distinct and varied by nature.

All sorts of fresh tracks were dropped along the board, new ID track and so many remixes that we can’t keep up with them. But to name a few, we finally heard new collaborations from Andrew Bayer & Norin & Rad called: Prototype and Sa Caleta – which marks the beginning of a new official collaboration from these guys called Artificial. UK’s Ilan Bluestone may hold the award for largest number of new tracks, marking a massive milestone for the young producer but his latest, “Sphere”, may take the cake. Above & Beyond dropped a few new originals called Sticky Fingers, Mariana Trench, a badass remix of New Order’s “Blue Monday,” a new one from Super8 & Tab ft. Julie Thompson called “New Frontier” and a really dope Jerome Isma-Ae & Maor Levi Bootleg of Underworld’s “Dark & Long”. Just before closing out their set, the dynamic trio played a heartbreaking acoustic version of “Sun & Moon” leaving a sobbing, stunned crowd mesmerized by one of Above & Beyond‘s best performances to-date.

Taking the stage at 2AM, I mean 1AM (day light savings), Arty on the decks, full of energy, delivered some solid new remixes including our new favorite mash-up of Daft Punk’s “One More Time” and Porter Robinson/Mat Zo‘s “Easy.” He dropped a few crowd favorites like his London Grammar “Hey Now” remix and then icing the ABGT050 cake with “Kate” –  we can only imagine the satisfied smiles on the faces of London’s trance family. We’re sorry to have missed this (as it was half-way across the world) but after hearing the result, we’ll definitely be in the crowd for ABGT100. Check out the playlist from last Saturday here!
